
<p>Every year, thousands of people converge on Nevada’s Black Rock Desert for the annual Burning Man festival. There, “artists, makers, and community organizers who co-create art, events, and local initiatives around the world” gather to celebrate and construct the sizeable—yet temporary—Black Rock City. Over the nine-day festival, the makeshift city is built, celebrations abound, the famous wooden statute is set ablaze, and then the city is disassembled.</p>



<p>While this can be an interesting way to spend your vacation, it can also wreak havoc on your RV. In all the excitement, some festival-goers may go a little too far and your property may get damaged or vandalized. More common, an ultra-fine dust gets kicked up in the wind and coats anything in sight.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Playa dust</h2>



<p>The Black Rock Desert is the site of a long lost, prehistoric lake bed and the desert playa (or just ‘playa’) is the bottom of it. The playa dries out, cracks, and creates a unique, ultra-fine dust—playa dust—that the festival is often associated with. As you might imagine, this dust can get into even the cranniest of nooks.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Festival-goers try to beat the dust by taping air vents, seams, and windows. Some cover furniture with plastic and others even wax the outside of the RV. But, playa dust is sure to get in and when it does, it is difficult to clean from the interior and exterior of your RV. It can even damage your electrical and mechanical systems.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Insurance coverage</h2>



<p>Because of the damage that playa dust can do to your RV and the increased risk of physical damage on the festival grounds, Burning Man remains an unauthorized festival in Outdoorsy’s terms of service. As a result, Outdoorsy insurance does not provide coverage for your RV on the festival grounds nor does it cover festival-related damage. That includes damage from playa dust to the interior, exterior, anything mechanical or electrical, or vandalism.</p>



<p>If your RV goes to Burning Man, Outdoorsy offers liability-only coverage to and from the festival to ensure your RV is road legal. But, if your RV is involved in a covered loss and your guest is at fault: your RV is not covered, only other peoples’ damaged property is covered. In addition, our liability-only coverage is provided at the state minimum level of coverage.</p>



<p>Outdoorsy’s Burning Man policy also means that our teams can only provide limited support in disputes you may have with your guest. In addition, if your guest is traveling from abroad, you will most likely be unable to collect on damages through small claims court. Candidly, if your RV goes to Burning Man, collecting for damages to your RV will be between you and your guest.</p>



<p>We understand that our Burning Man insurance policy may give you pause in accepting bookings headed for the festival. That’s okay! It’s your vehicle and you can do as you wish. <p><span style="font-weight: 400">With Outdoorsy’s Refer-a-Friend program, you can share your passion for travel while earning Outdoorsy credits! Outdoorsy credits can be applied to your booking payments as a guest or toward service fees accrued when renting out your own vehicle as a host.</span></p>



<p><span style="font-weight: 400">If your Outdoorsy referral rents a vehicle on Outdoorsy, you will receive $75 in Outdoorsy credit when they make a booking. As your referral, the guest will receive $50 off their trip as well. This is the perfect opportunity to invite others to join your trip at a discount to both of you, or to strike off on their own adventure.</span></p>



<p><span style="font-weight: 400">If your Outdoorsy referral lists their own vehicle on Outdoorsy, you will receive $100 in Outdoorsy credit once their vehicle departs on its first trip, and they’ll get a $50 credit of their own.</span></p>



<p><span style="font-weight: 400">You will receive Outdoorsy credits for your referrals if they satisfy the following requirements:</span></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><span style="font-weight: 400">Legal Terms and Conditions</span></h2>



<p><span style="font-weight: 400">This Agreement contains the complete terms and conditions that apply to you becoming a referral partner in Outdoorsy&#8217;s Refer-a-Friend Program. The purpose of this Agreement is to structure the terms of the customer referral flow between you and the Outdoorsy. Please note that throughout this Agreement, &#8220;we,&#8221; &#8220;us,&#8221; and &#8220;our&#8221; refer to Outdoorsy, and &#8220;you,&#8221; &#8220;your,&#8221; and &#8220;yours&#8221; refer to the referrer. In accepting the Refer-a-Friend Terms and Conditions, you are also hereby accepting Outdoorsy’s standard </span><a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/outdoorsy-terms-and-conditions"><span style="font-weight: 400">Terms and Conditions</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">.</span></p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><span style="font-weight: 400">Referral Partner Obligations</span></h3>



<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Outdoorsy reserves the right to terminate existing referral partnerships at any time if we determine your referral links are housed within sites or marketing collateral that:</span></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Promotes or houses illicit content (such as sexual, violent, discriminatory, and illegal content)</span></li><li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Incorporates any materials which infringe or assist others to infringe on any copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights or to violate the law</span></li><li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Includes &#8220;Outdoorsy&#8221; or variations or misspellings thereof in its domain name or any other unapproved marketing assets</span></li><li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Is otherwise in any way unlawful, harmful, threatening, defamatory, obscene, harassing, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable to us in our sole discretion.</span></li><li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">You may not create or design a site that in any way implies or explicitly misleads customers to believe you are Outdoorsy or any other affiliated business.</span></li></ul>



<p><span style="font-weight: 400">In order to accurately track referral impressions, clicks, conversions, and other key metrics associated with your referral campaigns, it is the referrer’s sole responsibility to correctly use the referral link supplied by Outdoorsy. Outdoorsy is not liable for any commissions a partner may not receive as a result of improperly implemented referral links.</span></p>



<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Outdoorsy reserves the right, at any time, to review the placement of your referral links and require that you make the necessary changes to remain compliant with the guidelines provided to you.</span></p>



<p><span style="font-weight: 400">It is the sole responsibility of the referral partner to follow all applicable IP laws that pertain to your site. Outdoorsy is not responsible should you use another party’s copyrighted material or other IP in violation of the law or any third party rights.</span></p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><span style="font-weight: 400">Outdoorsy Rights and Obligations</span></h3>



<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Outdoorsy reserves the right to terminate this Agreement and your participation in the Outdoorsy Refer-a-Friend Program immediately and without notice to you should you commit fraud in your use of the Outdoorsy Referral Program or should you abuse it in any way. If such fraud or abuse is detected, Outdoorsy shall not be liable to you for any commissions for fraudulent sales.</span></p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><span style="font-weight: 400">Modification</span></h3>



<p><span style="font-weight: 400">We may modify any of the terms and conditions in this Agreement at any time at our sole discretion. In such event, you will be notified. Modifications may include, but are not limited to, changes in the payment procedures and Outdoorsy&#8217;s Refer-a-Friend Program rules.</span></p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><span style="font-weight: 400">Payment</span></h3>



<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Commissionable actions on Outdoorsy referrals are as follows:</span></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">For guest referrals, the referrer will receive $75 in Outdoorsy credits when a referred guest makes at least one payment towards a booking that costs at least $200.</span></li><li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">For RV host referrals, the referrer will receive $100 commission when the owner’s vehicle departs on its first Outdoorsy trip.</span></li></ul>



<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Outdoorsy credits can be used toward booking payments or toward service fees that Outdoorsy vehicle owners pay when renting out their inventory.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Certain forms of advertising are prohibited by Outdoorsy. Said advertising methods include:</span></p>

If the potential winner fails to respond to the email within 7 days or is found to be, in Outdoorsy&#8217;s sole discretion, ineligible or in violation of these Official Rules, such potential winner and his/her entry will be disqualified, and an alternate winner will be selected from all remaining eligible entries. Outdoorsy may request paperwork that the potential winner will be required to complete in order to be awarded the prize (including, but not limited to, a publicity release, tax documentation, drivers license information, evidence of insurability, and/or liability release). <p>By participating in the Contest, you agree to release from liability and hold harmless Outdoorsy and its parent company, affiliates, and related companies, and each of their respective officers, directors, and employees and agents (collectively, the &#8220;Released Parties&#8221;) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest or the receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. Entrants agree to indemnify the Released Parties and any other companies associated with the Contest, including any vendors or marketing agencies, and any third parties who have provided prizing. The indemnity covers all claims made not only by potential winners, but also by anyone participating in the Contest. The indemnity covers both claims arising out of the Contest itself, and claims arising from any use of the prizes.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Limitation of Liability:</strong></h3>



<p>Outdoorsy is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrant, printing errors, or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to, malfunctions, delays, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; (4) late, lost, undeliverable, damaged, stolen, misdirected, or postage-due entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by entrant&#8217;s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. This includes such failures that might result in more winners than planned are issued.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Disputes:</strong></h3>



<p>This Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and State of Texas without respect to conflict of law doctrines. As a condition of participating in this Contest, entrant agrees that any and all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively and solely before a state or federal court located in Austin, Texas. Further, under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys&#8217; fees, and entrant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.</p>

<p>Outdoorsy reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute a prize (or a portion of the prize) of equal or greater value for any reason. Outdoorsy will not replace the prize if it is lost or stolen. Any and all prize-related expenses, including without limitation any and all federal, state, and local taxes, shall be the sole responsibility of the winner. By accepting the prize, the winner grants its permission for Outdoorsy to use the winner&#8217;s name, social media pseudonym and city and state for purposes of advertising and trade without further consent or compensation, unless prohibited by law.</p>



<p>Outdoorsy makes no representations or warranties whatsoever as to the ability to use the prize or to book and rent any particular vehicle or stay listed on the Outdoorsy.com platform. A winner making a booking on the Outdoorsy.com platform agrees that additional criteria may be imposed by the listed vehicle&#8217;s or stay&#8217;s owner. If the booking value exceeds the credited amount, then the winner will be solely and completely responsible for covering the booking expenses beyond the prize amount. Such booking must purchase the maximum available insurance coverage offered through the Outdoorsy.com booking platform. Outdoorsy will not be responsible for covering additional trip costs on and/or off platform, including but not limited to, mileage overage fees, gas, campground reservations, airfare or any other costs and expenses. All bookings on the Outdoorsy.com platform must fully comply with the terms and conditions and other policies therein.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Winner selection and notification:</strong></h3>



<p>As described in &#8220;How to Enter,&#8221; winners will be selected at the end of the Contest Period. The winners will be notified via email addresses provided on the submission. In order to receive the prize, the potential winner must return email communications with Outdoorsy&#8217;s team to set the delivery conditions of the prize. If the potential winner fails to respond to the email within 7 days or is found to be, in Outdoorsy&#8217;s sole discretion, ineligible or in violation of these Official Rules, such potential winner and his/her entry will be disqualified, and an alternate winner will be selected from all remaining eligible entries. Outdoorsy may request paperwork that the potential winner will be required to complete in order to be awarded the prize (including, but not limited to, a publicity release, tax documentation, drivers license information, evidence of insurability, and/or liability release). The failure to do so will render the potential winner ineligible.</p>



<p>If the potential winner is under the age of 25, they will need to be accompanied on their reward trip by a verified driver (verified in Outdoorsy&#8217;s sole discretion) over the age of 25 who will be responsible for being the driver of the vehicle during the rental period and who will be legally responsible for compliance with all terms and conditions related to accepting and using the prize, including the provision of paperwork and the releases and indemnifications described in these Official Rules. The prizes will be available for redemption until December 31, 2026. The receipt of the prize offered in this Contest by the potential winner is conditional upon compliance with these Official Rules and any and all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>General Terms:</strong></h3>



<p>Decisions made by Outdoorsy are final and binding in all matters, including interpretation of these Official Rules and awarding of the prizes. Entrants assume all risk of loss, damage, destruction, delay, or misdirection of Contest materials submitted to Outdoorsy. Outdoorsy reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest, or any part of it, if any virus, bugs, other technical failures, non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or any other causes beyond Outdoorsy&#8217;s control impair the administration, security, integrity, or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by Outdoorsy in its sole discretion. Outdoorsy in its sole discretion reserves the right to disqualify any entrant it finds to be tampering with or attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules. Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws, and, should such an attempt be made, Outdoorsy reserves the right to seek damages from such persons to the fullest extent permitted by law. Outdoorsy&#8217;s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that term.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Release and indemnification:</strong></h3>



<p>By participating in the Contest, you agree to release from liability and hold harmless Outdoorsy and its parent company, affiliates, and related companies, and each of their respective officers, directors, and employees and agents (collectively, the &#8220;Released Parties&#8221;) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest or the receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. Entrants agree to indemnify the Released Parties and any other companies associated with the Contest, including any vendors or marketing agencies, and any third parties who have provided prizing. The indemnity covers all claims made not only by potential winners, but also by anyone participating in the Contest. The indemnity covers both claims arising out of the Contest itself, and claims arising from any use of the prizes.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Limitation of Liability:</strong></h3>



<p>Outdoorsy is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrant, printing errors, or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to, malfunctions, delays, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; (4) late, lost, undeliverable, damaged, stolen, misdirected, or postage-due entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by entrant&#8217;s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. This includes such failures that might result in more winners than planned are issued.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Disputes:</strong></h3>



<p>This Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and State of Texas without respect to conflict of law doctrines. As a condition of participating in this Contest, entrant agrees that any and all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively and solely before a state or federal court located in Austin, Texas. Further, under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys&#8217; fees, and entrant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Social Media Content Usage:</strong></h3>



<p>Winners are encouraged to share photos and videos from their prize experience on social media. By posting content related to this giveaway and tagging participating brands, winners grant Outdoorsy, BarkBox, Sniffspot, Wilderdog and brand partners non-exclusive rights to repost, share, and feature such content across their respective social media platforms and marketing materials.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Privacy Policy:</strong></h3>



<p>Information submitted with an online entry is subject to the Privacy Policy stated on Outdoorsy&#8217;s website. Notwithstanding the foregoing, participants grant Outdoorsy the right to share your name and email address with with our participating partners.</p>

<p>You&#8217;ve booked an RV and are getting stoked for your camping vacation &#8211; hooray!<br><br>Now, let&#8217;s say you want to change your payment method after you&#8217;ve booked your trip. No problemo. Depending on when your trip departs, different charges, like the security deposit, can occur at different times. <br><br>As a result, you may want to update the payment method associated with your reservation. Here&#8217;s how to do that:</p>

How do I update my payment method?


<p><strong>UPDATE: As of July 2025, Roamly Weather Coverage will no longer be offered to purchase with Outdoorsy bookings. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.</strong></p>



<p>Roamly has partnered with Sensible to provide a product that allows you to purchase coverage for the duration of your trip and be able to receive a refund in the event of bad weather.</p>



<p>Available in the U.S. only, for all RVs, this additional Roamly Weather Coverage provides protection for your trip in the event of unexpected bad weather. Possible coverage is based on information from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).</p>



<p>For example, if it rains more than the amount quoted (based on the NOAA day-of-forecast), then Sensible will automatically provide a refund to you, based on the current weather at the location of your trip.</p>



<p>When you initially purchase coverage from Roamly Weather, you will see some basic information outlining your coverage and its parameters:</p>



<p><strong><em>What to expect:</em></strong></p>



<p><em>A forecasted &#8220;light rain&#8221; of 1.5 mm, or more, for 3+ hours will trigger the daily coverage. We&#8217;ll alert you if bad weather is on the horizon. Don&#8217;t worry, we&#8217;ll only text you if it&#8217;s important &#8211; aka you have money available.          Light rain is when you walk outside, and the ground looks like it&#8217;s been raining, think small puddles. </em></p>



<p><strong><em>How&#8217;s the coverage triggered?</em></strong></p>



<p><em>3 &#8211; 6 hours of rain = $51.93/day                                                                                                                                               6+ hours of rain = $103.86/day</em></p>



<p>This is just an example of what you&#8217;ll see when you consider purchasing coverage. The expected forecast, details, and amount of possible refunds.&nbsp;</p>



<p>If the weather during your trip is considerably worse than anticipated, based on the previous NOAA forecast, Sensible will notify you via text message and issue reimbursement automatically!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How do I purchase Roamly Weather Coverage?</strong></h3>



<p>Weather Coverage is offered when you make your reservation online for any stationary RV bookings where the RV is delivered and set up at a destination, or for campsite bookings, because the service requires an address to calculate the coverage.</p>



<p>You will also be able to purchase Weather Coverage after your booking is confirmed, from the Trips details page in your account.</p>



<p><strong>Note!</strong> Roamly weather coverage can only be quoted and purchased for trips that are less than three months long.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Is Roamly Weather Coverage the same as Trip Protection?</strong></h3>



<p>No, Roamly Weather Coverage is a separate offering from both Trip Protection and Damage Protection.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How is the covered amount determined?</strong></h3>



<p>The covered amount is based on the total cost of your booking when coverage is purchased.&nbsp;</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How long do I have to purchase coverage?</strong></h3>



<p>Roamly Weather Coverage is available for purchase up until the day before your trip begins. If your trip starts today, you will not be able to purchase coverage.&nbsp;</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What happens if I change the dates of my trip?</strong></h3>



<p>Because coverage is based on a specific date range and forecast, if you change the dates of your trip then your Roamly Weather Coverage will be removed and need to be repurchased for your new trip dates.&nbsp;</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Can I cancel my Weather Coverage?</strong></h3>



<p>You have 24 hours after the purchase of Roamly Weather Coverage to cancel it. After 24 hours have passed, then coverage will not be able to be removed without canceling the booking.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Note!</strong> If Roamly Weather Coverage is added within 14 days of your booking&#8217;s start date, then the option to remove the coverage will not be available.&nbsp;</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What happens to my coverage if my booking is canceled?</strong></h3>



<p>If the booking is canceled prior to departure, then the entire cost of Roamly Weather Coverage will be refunded to you.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Note!</strong> If the booking is canceled on, or after, departure then Roamly Weather Coverage will be nonrefundable.&nbsp;</p>
