Within a day's drive there are so many beautiful scenic landscapes, head north to Rainier or the North Cascades, south to the big Red Woods, East towards the back roads of Idaho, or West to the breath taking coastline. Maybe you only have a few days to escape, there is plenty to explore in the National Monument at Mount St. Helens, the National Forests at Mount Adams and Mount Hood, and of course the endless scenic trails of the Columbia River Gorge. Public lands are an american birthright and a global attraction. Conservation, preservation and advocacy work best when we have personal experiences with these spaces.
