Chester and his team consistently provide thorough walkthroughs, quick responses to questions, and are accommodating, even offering to fix issues like a diesel heater on site.
Smooth, comfortable, easy ride
Lucky offers a smooth, comfortable ride and maintains excellent temperature control (27-80°F). It features spacious beds (fitting up to 6'4"), dimmable lights, ventilation, a screen door, sink, fridge, and awning. Battery charges while driving for 2-3 days of use.

5.0Lucky was awesome, and gave us a good opportunity to see if vanlife could work for our family of 5 (4 humans, 1 geriatric canine). We spent a wintery weekend at the beach, stayed nice and cozy when we were in the van, and enjoyed the ease of travel with this setup. The hosts were super helpful and communicative-we would definitely rent this van again!

5.0We took “Lucky” on an unforgettable trip to Helena and back, stopping at seven BLM and remote campsites along the way. The ride was smooth, comfortable, and easy, and the van was an absolute dream to sleep in. It kept us cozy when the temperature dipped to 27°F and perfectly cool when it climbed to 80°F. It had everything we needed—and more. Chester and his family were incredibly helpful and quick to answer any questions we had.

4.0I rented Lucky on an emergency basis - I returned another camper van in the area with a house battery problem, and found Lucky as a suitable replacement. Chester, the owner, was very accommodating and easy to work with. I did have a minor problem with the diesel heater refusing the run, but the heat could also run off electricity. Chester offered to come out and fix, and I appreciated the care and effort. The house battery charges only by driving the van - no solar. I found driving for 1 hour was more than enough to recharge the battery. Stationary, the battery can reasonably last 2-3 days depending on use. The induction cooktop is the biggest drain, but Lucky also comes with a camp stove. I’d say the shower isn’t that practical to use other than a rare occasion. Lucky’s fresh water tank is 20 gallons, and the hot water heater gets shower water mildly warm. I did really like the bed setup - long enough for me at 6-3. And the windows in the rear allowed for nice ventilation at night. Another plus is you can dim the overhead lights at night; no getting blasted by bright LED’s. Definitely rent Lucky if the specs fit your needs.

5.0We had an awesome time renting “Lucky” with our family of four. Our kids loved the cozy lower bunk and my 6’4” husband and I slept soundly on the top bunk! Chester and his family were very helpful getting us aquatinted with the vehicle, and answering any questions we had while on our trip. We hope to rent from them again, we had an awesome time!

How is the van powered without a generator?
A.
Lucky Van is all electric all the time! A robust onboard battery stack powers all of Lucky Van’s cabin systems. All heat*, appliances, hot water, outlets, charge ports, fan/AC, etc run off the battery. The battery charges off the van alternator while underway and can be hooked up to shore power. Hooking up to shore power will charge the battery and provide power at the same time. Battery charge life depends on what is drawing power and for how long. *Heat can also run on van’s diesel.
