1964 Airstream Overlander
Lucy is a fully restored 1964 Airstream Overlander, 27 feet in length, sleeping two to four comfortably. She has all original cabinets, appliances, hardware and accessories. Her interior has been meticulously restored, with refurbished or re-created cabinetry that matches the originals from the factory, and all new curtains, upholstery and floors. For comfort that wasn’t available in 1964, we have outfitted the trailer with a flat-screen TV with Blu-Ray player and a small library of classic films, as well as an efficient and quiet roof-mounted air conditioner. She hooks up to campground electricity and water, and has a full bathroom with stand-up shower.Lucy can be towed by any modern mid- or full-size pickup or SUV, and some larger crossovers. She’s got a gorgeous shine, and gets thumbs up everywhere she goes.Rentals come with linens for the gaucho and rear full-size convertible bed, pillows and blankets, towels, vintage kitchenware (plates, glasses, flatware), pots and pans, a coffee maker, cleaning supplies, a decently stocked pantry, and a few vintage magazines.We offer the following add-ons for rent on a daily basis. I purchased her from the previous owner’s daughter. It was my first long-distance purchase and retrieval, and it turned out to be quite an adventure: Naively, I set out from Illinois using the four old tires that were mounted on the trailer when I purchased her, plus an equally old spare. You can guess how that trip went LOL.Over the next year, Lucy underwent a ground-up interior and exterior restoration with very close attention paid to respecting the originality of the trailer. It was during this project that I really learned how to restore vintage trailers. I apprenticed with a restoration expert who imparted everything he knew to me.
