Units are rented on somewhat of a consignment basis – if owner does not want to pay RV Rentals of Orlando to fix something – well you are going to get a vehicle with some minor issues (engine light on, ripped awning, torn screen, missing compartment door locks, etc.). Yes, annoying; however not a deal breaker – I usually grab my tool bag, make some minor repairs and feel good about returning an item better than I got it. My attitude is to take note of it on your rental contract and press on with your trip.
This place is EXTREMELY busy as Orlando is not only a tourist destination but these folks also rent to the Southeast for hurricane responders. One week their lot may be full - a storm hits, and there is almost no inventory available. I wanted to share that because if you choose to rent between June and November you could be impacted by vehicles being less than white glove cleaned as they try to satisfy everyone’s needs. Nothing a tub of baby wipes can’t take care of in quick order.
The insurance that one has to carry on these vehicles always seems to be a budget outlier. It has yet to be the same during any rental and I am not a fan of surprises. My thought is that this is a challenge for them as well and when we have discussed it they have offered a compromise – this most recent time they gave me a loyalty discount since they had rented to me previously and I am a very conscientious renter – returning the item cleaner and in better shape then I got it. My suggestion is to make sure when you rent that you get the insurance pricing on the day of rental nailed down in your contract so that both you and them are in agreement – they will honor what you have in writing.
Propane, generator use, mileage. These are kind of consumables that nobody wants to have to deal with but have to be considered. I am a bit of a spendthrift but I want to have a good time. Worrying about overcharges that might occur is a problem for me. But, they offer a solution by allowing you to prepay for mileage and generator use and both are very reasonable and since they are done at time of pick-up, no surprises when you drop off (which I tend to do just after they have closed for the day). The resolution to the propane is that I try to run off of AC whenever possible and the Ace hardware puts some LP in it at my convenience so that it gets returned with at least as much as when I checked it out so it seems to end up being a wash.
Okay now here is a problem for me that I have no good answer for: the deposit. As stated above their relationship with their owners and their being really busy seems to result in a bit of deposit return drama. No they are not quick about it. Their thinking I am sure is that they do not want to miss something in the return inspection and then have no recourse to remedy this. However, my thinking is that I am going to forget to hound them and then end up with a messed up Visa/Mastercard bill at the end of the month. I have found that I need to write this one on the calendar and just be a bit of a pest. I am sure they get distracted and that their billing vendor slips up and possibly there might be a bit of a trust issue on their part since they have a lot of potential liability out there in the parking lot. All I can say is to take a video on your phone in the parking lot when you are ready to leave and one when you return and don’t give it too much thought after that. This is the reason that you have the aforementioned insurance (and deposit). These are well-meaning folks and they will get your deposit back to you. It just might take a few calls . . .
Finally, there is the fear of break downs of the vehicle or the systems on board. The answer to that for me has been – perhaps you have heard of it – Google. Yes, by all means go over everything before you leave – how to light the pilots for the water heater, stove, refrigerator, cabin heater, etc. Please do not forget – these are called campers for a reason. Part of camping is roughing it. If the fridge acts up, get a cooler and some ice. If the heater acts up, throw on an extra blanket. Just get through it, google how to get things working and if all else fails, they give you a phone number and have someone who will walk you through all of this. How do I know – because the other reviews state so. Me, I just google it and it is usually because I didn’t wait long enough for the gas to completely fill the lines (I am always shutting the gas off).
Lastly, approach this from a long-haul perspective. These folks ALWAYS make it up to you. I am getting ready to rent from them for a fourth time and heck I am not happy that they didn’t tell me that the retractable awning was out of order until we tried to use it prior to leaving their parking lot. Did I lose my mind – no. When I go to rent from them this next time I am going to remind them. Chances are, they will give me a break on the toilet paper fee or the mileage – or something. It all seems to work out with these folks. Try them, be glad you don’t have to run out and buy one of these rigs and above all – try to return it better then you got it!

This car was from a company, RV Rentals Orlando. On our RV pick up day, something was broken in the RV and they told us It wouldn't be available at 11am as confirmed before, but only at 3pm. Well, we had plans to leave at noon, so we begin the trip delaying our plans. About 12pm they called me and told the RV was ready, we went there immediately to pick up the car, but after all the instructions and the waiting for the kitchen and linen supplies we left about 2pm. Before we left the facility, they gave us very quick instructions, which I recorded everything otherwise it would be impossible to remember so many things. Before leaving the RV Rentals of Orlando, they brought the kitchens appliances (not in very good conditions, but ok) and the linen. They brought all the bedding the way they removed it from the machine, in their hands, all wrinkled, unbelievable. The RV was not very clean either. Anyway, we left the facility and begun our trip late, but fortunately we could make it our first campground at time. When we arrived to sleep, we connected everything very quickly but the car was completely unleveled, because the technician from the rental company told us to use the leveling jack only in an emergency. It was very late and we couldn't call anyone from the company, so we slept upside down the first night. Second day, in the middle of the way the generator turned off, I called to RV Rentals Orlando and they gave me the instructions and soon it worked again. I told about the previous night and the fact that all others cars had the leveling jacks and he told us again to not use them and call the road assistance if we really wanted to. But a car this big... when we open the slides of course the car will be all way down to that side (left side in this case). Imagine... we were sleeping upside down again, because the car was completely unleveled!! I mean.. we paid expensive to be comfortable, and it was not happening. Anyway, we called the road assistance and they said that would be possible to go but charging usd 200 to set up the leveling jacks, because it supposed to be working automatically. They went there the day after and in few minutes they said that the system was not working and they had to configure manually the leveling jacks. They also fixed the dinner table (that broke in the first day of use) but it broke again after couple hours (and stayed broke all travel). Also the bedding curtain the felt down in the middle of the trip. After they set up the car we could finally sleep normally and the car was leveled, but we had to pay 200 dollars! I immediately sent a message to the company to be refunded but until today, one week after the trip finished, they did not give me back the money that we spend in the RV! They also said that the enter steps was broke after we drop off the RV, and they hold our security deposit until today, the total value of 1,500 USD!! I already have sent message to them, but nobody responded yet. They said also that they would give me the linen and kitchen for free (about USD 200), once that the pick up in the first day was late, and nothing. Until today they haven't give this discount and haven't give me back my security deposit of USD 1,500.00, neither my refund of USD 200.00 that I spend to setup the leveling jacks that was not working properly. And more, when we drop off the RV, we talked again about the problem with the car and the money he had to spend and they told us that in our contract says that we cant use the leveling jacks. What?? They sell the car in Outdoorsy as they have the leveling jack, and when you pick up the car they say you can't use? This is not feasible.
I really hope that RV Rentals Orlando and Outdoorsy can reply my message and take some action in giving my money back. It would be the value from our security deposit, the refund for the kitchen and linen and also the refund for the costs that we had for the bad functionality of the RV.
