The van ran really well and the owners were super helpful and responsive. As a vintage vehicle some problems are expected, but the inoperable passenger window was a bummer. It also had not been cleaned very well prior to our rental; especially the utensils and cookware which were an extra charge. All in all though cruising around the island and camping in this van was a total blast. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

We had such a great time camping on Maui with Fe! This was our first Outdoorsy experience, and we weren't disappointed. Fe has a lot of character, runs great, and is fun to drive. She also has everything you need to live the 'van life' for however long you want. Lisa was super communicative and accommodating. Hope we get the chance to do it again soon!

Super fun way to tour the Island! Fe was clean, dependable, and had all the amenities we needed, and then some... Lisa was VERY responsive and always available via text. We had no trouble taking her on the road to Hana. She handled it with ease. We cooked pancakes and sausage in the mornings and grilled out in the evenings. There were lots of goodies that were already stocked in the van, which was handy (sunbock, salt/pepper, foil, etc). The sunshades for the font of the van, surrounding curtains, and mosquito net for the back allowed for both privacy and a nice breeze. The pots/pans, silverware/dishes, beach chairs, and snorkel gear was in excellent condition. I was a little intimidated by the alternative coffee maker thing, so we bought our coffee at the roadside stands. My only recommendation would be for Lisa to add a little tea kettle for the stove and a pour-over funnel. At the end of the trip we dropped the van at the airport parking and caught our flight back to the mainland. Great experience!

Fe' is awesome. Rented it for 4 days and 3 nights. It is a way cool rig that is very stylish. It is definitely an older rig but was clean, comfortable and very function-able to live and drive around the island. You do need to be comfortable driving a manual to enjoy it, but totally enjoyed the old school vibe. At the end of the trip I didn't want to leave and now at home looking to buy one. If you like the old school surfer and venture van you can't go wrong with Fe'. When I come back to the Island I will definitely try and rent Fe' again.

Renting Fe was the best decision we made for our trip. She is a special VW and we felt really comfortable. Lisa was very chill and easy to contact. You will be lucky to spend some time cruising a beautiful island in a cool van :)

CAUTION!! We rented this van for 4 nights with our 5-year-old son. We ended up sleeping in it for 2 and drove less than 90 miles. Watching the intro video given to us 2 days before our rental, they explain that air conditioning/ceiling fan/vents don’t work, then a text that passenger side window worked only sometimes. Ok, we can deal with that…Then, on night #1, it rained and LEAKED INSIDE the van, directly on the main bed (photo attached). We were up all night mopping and dumping pots of water. On day #3, the AXLE BROKE! We were stuck for 5 hours in a location with no bars on our phones and were at the mercy of the owners to help us find a hotel. They said they couldn’t find any, so we’d need to sleep in the parking lot of the auto repair shop. Even the tow truck driver was hesitant to leave us in this dark, sketchy, industrial part of town with no water/bathrooms/access to food. After people started approaching the van in the dark asking for money and cigarettes we decided for our family’s safety we needed to leave. We started calling around for hotel rooms, found one easily (surprise?!), and got out of there. Good riddance. Best part: the owners then tried to blame us for the broken 30-something-year-old axle in the less than 90 miles that we drove it (outdoorsy found us not at fault for this claim). Cute van, and we understand with age it’ll have its quirks, but absolutely TERRIBLE vacationing experience with the owner.

Two sides to every story. This renter took "Fe" to the backside of Maui between Kaupo and Kipahulu. This is the section of road that has been FORBIDDEN by rental car companies for decades. And it is also forbidden per the rules of the Outdoorsy contract and my "Rules of the Van" I actually had a brand new axle installed less than 12 months prior to this (just as a good maintenance/pre-caution) The axle bolts came loose as a direct result in driving on that very bumpy, rutted and washboarded portion of the backside of Maui. As for the water leak? In over 18 months of renting Fe about every week of the year, we have NEVER had a complaint about her not being water tight. EVER. After inspecting the skylight where the water was dripping into the van it simply was not closed all the way and sealed properly. Because of this renters epic poor judgement I had to pay for over $1000 in repairs and the next booking had to be cancelled (equivalent loss in future revenue). The "insurance" company denied the claim because I did not have the van inspected in the last 90 days.....even though it had been. This is an on-going claim and it's a classic case of both renter and insurance company shirking responsibility. And Outdoorsy??? They won't even take an incoming call on the issue. Everything must be in an email which they don't respond to for days......Welcome to doing business in 2020.

Super fun westy! The only way to travel the island in style. Packed with everything you need for maximum enjoyment. Owner was super helpful and prompt with any concerns. Van life for days.

My family of four rented this RV and it was a great way to see the island and stay at campsites in a comfortable space. The gears took getting used to but after a bit they were easy to use. Fuel tank not quite accurate but it was easy to just keep track of miles. The owners offered quite a bit of extras that we took advantage of although it was too much stuff with the four of us and the transition each night with two car seats was a pain. If there were just two of us it wouldn’t have been so bad. Everywhere we went people looked at the van and some even would take pictures. It’s a beautiful ride for sure. Lisa and Eric were communicative and gave good recommendations on campsites on their website which was helpful. We would definitely use Fe again for a family trip to Maui.

Had several messages back and forth with owner and I was pleased find the van in a great state for camping! Mechanically was very strong (even passed a few cars in a campervan!) and the camping components were all up to german engineering specs. Travelled the road to Hana, swam in waterfalls and stayed at the Black sand State park Waiʻanapanapa (get permit online) rear bug mesh cover worked great to allow air movement in van. Felt like a local and was questioned as one many times.
Aloha.
