About Michelle's RV rentals

This is our 1st trailer and we love using it for trips with our family! We are excited to help other families and people experience the fun and convenience of trailer camping as well.

My wife and I ended up booking separate events this year for labor day weekend. She had a music festival with camping pre payed for our RV that was already set . I decided to look on line to see what camping trailers where available for my son and I to rent to take to a motorcycle event for the holiday weekend. I found several in the 100-to 125 a night range. Michelle's 2017 forest river toy hauler popped up on line though Outdoorsy.com . It was a bit more expensive per night at 175.00, what made it attractive was that it was newer and had an on board generator. Since we were going to be dry camping this made more sense to rent from Michelle and the Pick up point was close to home as well. I Decided to rent their trailer. Communication was great with Michelle. She responded right away to my questions on text. She allowed me to pick up the trailer at her husbands work around 7 am in the morning on Friday so we could have time to load our stuff and get on the road by 12 noon to beat the Labor day traffic going south on I-5 . I meet her husband Jerry at his place of business at 7am on Friday to sign the contract look over the trailer and take possession for the labor day weekend. When I arrived at the tire store to pick up the toy hauler Jerry went out to start his truck and disconnect it from the trailer so I could hook up. His battery was dead on his truck. Jerry had to us his service vehicle to jump start his truck . We walked around the trailer I took pictures of the dings and dents and we signed the contract. Then he moved his truck out of the way . I backed my truck into position. Jerry tried to lower the electric tongue down on to my hitch and no power. He then checked the trailer lights they were dead. He said this thing has been sitting here a while since the last person used it. He said that he was sorry that the previous customer must have left a light on or something and would have to put a new battery in it. while I waited he went in to the tire store in search of the correct size battery. In the mean time I continued to inspect the trailer. I noticed that there wasn't a spare tire on the unit . When jerry came out I asked about the spare. He said that the trailer in fact did not have one. I said I can't pull this thing with out one. He agreed and went back in to the store and put together a wheel and tire. When he was done with the spare tire mount he came back out with it. By this time I had really looked at all the functions inside the trailer. He put the spare tire in the back of my truck and said that unfortunately he did not have a new battery to replace the dead one on the trailer. But His wife Michelle works at their sister tire store just a few miles down the road, I would have to take the trailer there to have a battery installed in it. I said that was fine . Before I pulled out I asked a few more questions about the control panel and switches in side the trailer. I asked where the button was to start the generator. He said " There is no Generator " I said What ? we are dry camping ! Jerry said is this a deal breaker for you ? I said not at this point we are leaving a noon what other choice do I have ? I said ok what about the propane tanks ? Jerry said that they were full. I said and the Holding tanks ? He said they are empty. So I headed down the road to the other tire store where I met Michelle in person . She seamed very nice. I explained to her what had happened when I meet Jerry to pick up the trailer. I also said that my wife suggested that I rent your trailer because it has a generator . My son an I will be dry camping in the woods for three days. She Said oh I'm sorry we do have a generator. It is a portable one . We took it out of the trailer because the last person to rent from us didn't need it. Then she said if you want to wait a little while I will run home and get it. So I waited as family kept calling wondering where I was at. By this time is was about 10am . When Michelle returned I aske her if she would walk me through the starting process of the portable generator. She said " I'm sorry I have no idea how to run this thing." At that point I said that's ok I will figure it out. By now I'm really uneasy about anything being said about this toy hauler. I am an avid RV'r and I have to be sure that all is good before I go anywhere. So on my way back to my house to load our belongings on the trailer, I swung through Lake Pleasant RV park where we often get propane for our motorhome and had the propane tanks checked . 1 tank was full the other was half empty. So I topped it off. I Then checked the holding tanks on my way out of the park. the gray water was empty but the black water tank still had poop in it from previous and smelled fowl. I got home about 1030 am to start loading the trailer. I meet my wife and son. We opened up the back of the toy hauler to fold up the dinette couches to load the bikes and there was dirt all over the floor and we discovered one of the hanging straps for the fold up couch was broken and a piece of molding had come loose from the bench. My wife was blown away by the unclean condition of the trailer to say the least. She started cleaning so we could load our bikes and clothes, food etc. In the mean time my son and I worked on the portable generator trying to get it started. we choked it and took turns pulling the rip cord. the generator was dead too! It smelled like bad gas! We were forced to leave the generator at home . I had to borrow one from my neighbor for the weekend. Not cool ! My wife found a used bar of soap still in the shower with pubic hair on it and a empty toilet paper roll sitting on the bathroom counter and poop stains in the toilet bowl and pee stains on the rim. The shower stall was dirty with hair in the bottom of it. The bedding had been slept in . The bed was un made and there was visible white stains on the dark blue sheets and pillow cases ! We did not have time to wash it! So I had her just put clean blankets on top of the bedding . That is how I slept on the bed for the weekend. PS> I took pics of all this before we left to go camping. When we returned my wife recleaned the inside of the trailer while I washed the out side. There were no cleaning supplies the mop head had an empty cartridge so my wife used our cleaning supplies. I then returned it to Michelle. I do not like drama. I explained all this to Michelle in person. I told her that I thought her and Jerry were nice people and that I didn't want to write a negative review about my experience renting from them. I just wanted my deposit back in full and for Michelle and Jerry to adjust the rental fee per night to reflect the fact that we had to clean, fill and dump the tanks on there unit. Plus provide our own generator before we could take it out camping! This unit was returned Clean on Tuesday. I text Michelle Thursday night to check in on our return deposit plus an additional credit back on a portion of the rental fee. I left it up to her to decide what was fair. She never answered me back she went silent on me. I could have rented a trailer for dry camping for 100.00 per night. It is now Friday afternoon still no word. So I called Michelle at her tire store and she answered. She said that she had talked it over with Jerry and they decided that they were not willing to give any credit back other that our damage deposit from outdoorsy because they were not planning on renting the Toy hauler out again anyway . She said for me to go ahead and write the review so here it is ! Not a Happy Camper at all!
