We’re Eric & Lisa West—Maui residents, parents, and lifelong adventurers who love sharing the island of Maui the way we enjoy it! With sunrise surf checks, waterfall hikes, and lazy golden-hour beach hangs. When we’re not helping clients with Maui real estate and our Youtube channel "HawaiiRealEstate", we’re exploring in our meticulously maintained camper van. We keep our rigs spotless, fully stocked, and road-ready with thoughtful touches (beach chairs, cooler, basic cookware, and local tips). We’re responsive, flexible with pickup, and happy to help plan routes—Hana curves, West Maui lookouts, hidden snorkel coves, and the best coffee stops. Eric was an awesome host! This was our first time renting an RV through Outdoorsy, and he made it super easy from start to finish. He took plenty of time to walk us through the Travato, showing us all the cool features and sharing a bunch of great local tips that totally made our Maui trip even better.

We had a great week camping all around Maui in Fe. Fe gave us the opportunity to explore at our own pace. The manual gears Were helpful in navigating steep incline and decline around the Maui coastline. Fe was Comfortable with lots of added extras and we did not have any mechanical issues (being familiar with VWs is a help). Eric gave us a great orientation to Fe and was in communication when ever we needed him or had any questions.

If I could give less than a one star rating, I would. We rented this van in May and just now settled the dispute (in our favor) with our credit card company. The headache was not worth it at all. Don't rent this van! We had major mechanical issues from the moment we picked up the van. Unfortunately, we did an airport pick-up late at night without the owners there. We kept the owners informed of the van issues and our intent to meet them in the morning to have them look at the van. Unfortunately, the next morning the van hard broke on the side of the road where we had to get it towed and wasted a whole day of our vacation. To make matters worse, they then blamed us for the mechanical issue! They also complained about "off-roading" due to mud on the tires where we had to push the van off the road to literally unblock the road. We rented a replacement truck/camper vehicle from Michael Lipp the same day and had a fabulous time. Eric was super responsive, made the trip easy. Traveling Maui in a Westie was awesome, and allowed us to see more than we would have otherwise. Can't wait to get back to Maui!

I give Eric and Lisa, for this particular RV a 2/5 stars. This is the reason because:
+1 star because these owners are awesome and the communication worked well. Super friendly and very easy to work with.
+1 star for a clean, beautiful RV that made it seem like the hawaiian dream!
+0 stars because this car could not make it to the remote parts of the island, such as the road to hanna, the volcano, or Napili because the transmission is too weak and the roads too steep, but if you just need to drive from the north to south side of the island, it works great!
+0 stars because though you can camp anywhere on the island, there are many places closed to the public after dark, and you definitely do not want to park right on the beaches because the sand it too deep. It is true that not many places enforce the parking and sleeping policy, but it proves to be very difficult to find various places around the island to sleep.
+0 stars because the clutch of the car didn't work well from the beginning. After we got stuck in the sand once with the car (although the owners told us it is not a big deal if you get stuck) we were charged for a brand new clutch.
Best of luck finding the perfect car for you.

If I could give less stars I would! Tried to take my deposit and money despit not delivering the product we agreed upon. The van was having mechanical issues and was not rentable when I arrived in Maui so I was forced to stay in a hotel the first night and scrabbled to find another rental. The owner did his best to keep my deposit and full payment even though I never saw him or the van! I asked for a refund multiple times and ended up going through outdoorsy themselves to get it!

Me and my friends spent 6 days in the van, and it was amazing!! Really nice car, and Eric had made a great YouTube video we could watch before we came to learn how everything worked! Best way to spend your holiday at Maui!

Eric & Lisa were excellent outdoorsy hosts. They were quick to reply any time we had a question from pick up to turn over. This van is so full of love and adventure I could merry her. Next time we come back to Maui we will definitely rent this van and you should to!

Great trip in a great trip. This Van is not new, so it works like all those old vans work, but it does have a great engine and sound :)
Easy to drive and the normal tics those vehicles sometimes have.
All additional stuff was perfet, new or in good shape and i would recommend to ask Eric & Lisa before the trip to ask what they need to bring, because there is really a lot already waiting for you in the van (for example battery for charging torch, mobile and stuff).
Easy communication and good advices for my trip!
I will book again!

GREAT TIME! 🤙🏼 Eric & Lisa could not have been more sweet, helpful & accommodating! They’ve got the cutest little VW that is so perfect! It’s in incredible condition, they’ve outfitted it so well! Eric made sure to explain how to use & set up everything before he sent us on our way. They’ve spared no expense on the accessories & supplies inside; we LOVED the grill, the clam is awesome, all the kitchen supplies you could want/need, table is super multi-purpose, the back window screen is super handy, great little coffee maker, comfy hammock, bed is easy to set-up and very comfortable for 2, rechargeable lights and fan came in handy as well! We camped at Papalua for two nights and had a blast. We got so many compliments on the van and how prepared we were! Thanks for making us look like camping pros! Absolutely recommend! MAHALO!

We had the best time cruising around Maui in Fe! Prepare to be noticed, people love this van (she’s quite the looker). Eric & Lisa were super to deal with. Hope to rent her again for our next visit!

We had an awesome time in Eric and Lisa's VW van! It really is the perfect way to see Maui as you always have a bed and a little kitchen wherever you are so you never have to leave if you find a little slice of paradise. The van was in perfect working condition and super clean with everything you need for your stay. There are a handful of camping grounds to park at around the island but honestly the best spots were off the road parking at a beach where you can watch the ocean and whales from the open back door while your laying in bed. Eric was very friendly and always quick to communicate with us when we needed anything. We can't recommend this little camper van enough if you want to slow down and really see Maui this is the way! Just an all around great experience. Eric and Lisa have put a lot of thought in what you might need so you’re in great hands. Eric was very helpful and quickly responded to any questions I had. He also demonstrated on how to use some of the equipment. Very professional and down to earth. We loved the van and got complimented on it almost daily! I love that it’s not too big so you can take it everywhere. Thanks Eric and Lisa for the awesome experience!

Eric and Lisa get 5 Stars for sure. We had a blast in the van touring and camping on Maui. The van was very very clean and very well kept. All of the cooking and sleeping items in the van were clean and ready to go. We were so happy with our decision. We booked over the new years holiday, so the pricing was more than listed, but we understood that going in. We were looking for an adventure and we got it. We are a family of 5, so we needed to bring a tent for our 5th person, it is cramped sleeping inside with 3 kids for sure but still totally doable. The tent gave us more space to spread out and sleep. We rented 2 surf boards, 2 boogie boards and sleeping gear for all of us, and still had room to breath and live in the van. We paid for the airport pickup and drop-off which is well worth the money. Eric and Lisa are so nice and answered every question we had about what to see and where to go, they were so helpful. The van is awesome and it is as clean and nice as the photos. What you see is what you get! We cant wait to come back and get the van again, we miss the van. We should have booked more days! Next time we will.

We really enjoyed camping on Maui with Eric & Lisa’s campervan. The van was clean, worked perfectly and included everything you need while camping. In addition, Eric is reachable whenever needed and very helpfull. Definitely recommend renting this van.
