Welcome to Look Like A Local - Adventure Vehicles!! IG: @look_like_a_local My wife and I absolutely Love the ability to grab a rental Camper Van or purpose built adventure vehicle on our travels both Domestic & International. We are used to traveling here in Alaska with one of our rigs so we understand and appreciate the ability of packing light, bringing only the necessities and having the ability to rent a vehicle equipped for our Adventure and Travel :) We know how difficult it can be for making your dream trip to Alaska a reality and we strive to give you the Best base camp we can fully equipped with whatever your adventurous heart desires. We are a local small business based in Palmer, Alaska and promote our neighboring small businesses all who can/will play an integral part of your adventure. Kevin and JR are first and foremost down to earth people, living the dream in Alaska. Kevin was easy to work with, communication was top notch and there was never a moment when we had a question which wasn’t quickly and fully answered.

One of the best road trips I've ever done! Vincent was the perfect way to travel Alaska. If you are considering this... do it! Vincent's high clearance will take you everywhere and everything feels very accessible here anyway.
Easiest way is to get an Uber up to Palmer from Anchorage as public transport is a bit tricky.

Henry the truck camper was the perfect off-grid basecamp for our trip! My wife and I were able to explore with total freedom, thanks to the camper’s self-sufficiency and thoughtful setup. As a tall guy (6’4”), I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and spacious it felt inside—plenty of headroom and sleeping space, which isn’t always the case with rigs like this.

We had such an amazing time! Hugo had everything we needed (and more), and we are so glad we rented a van for this portion of our trip. We drove all around the Kenai peninsula, and found the most beautiful places to sleep. Zero issues with the van, only excellent views and adventures and tons of daylight. The flexibility in Alaska is amazing.

The van was comfortable and with the upgraded engine was more peppy than standard WV vans. We had a blast staying in various places and were able to accommodate 3 people sleeping. We got a lot of honks and waves from people and comments about the bright green color. Solid you're a fan of VW busses you will love this van.

We had a great experience renting the "Green Machine" for our 9 day road trip in Alaska! This was our first time in Alaska and first time renting a vehicle through Outdoorsy - we have no regrets about either decision. While I'm a novice with this kind of rentals, I suspect Kevin is as good a host as they come. He was punctual for drop-off, helped orient us to the camping equipment, and he was responsive to all our communication throughout the trip. We had one brief issue with the car battery when we initially started the truck and Kevin was back to help within 10 minutes and purchased a replacement battery, too. This is above and beyond the kind of care and responsibility I expect from most landlords, let alone vehicle rental hosts. Thank you, Kevin!

Hugo was one of the best campervans we have rented. It was very comfy for myself, my husband and our 8 month old daughter. It was perfect that there was a back seat that folded out for her car seat. We could have easily brought our 8 year old son- we would have needed to bring a tent if he came with us, but she slept in the bed with us and it worked out great. The fridge came in handy for leftover food, the sink was great to wash her bottles. We ended up eating out so we never used the stove top. The cubbies were super handy to put all of our clothes in, qnd we were able to store our suitcases under the bed. Kevin thought of everything to make this camper comfy and easy to use. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to use it. Also Kevin was very friendly and met up with us to show us how everything worked. The only recommendation I would make is to add a mattress topper for a little more cushion. Thanks for letting us explore with Hugo!

had a great experience with this westfalia. new engine made it run so smooth and had everything we could’ve needed on our trip across alaska. the pop up gave us a ton of storage at night and we cooked our own breakfast every morning with the stove top and the jet fuel provided. kevin was a great host and we couldn’t recommend vincent more for your next trip :)

Everything was amazing about our campervan! We’ll definitely be renting this again in the future. We got so many compliments on Hugo in the campgrounds. 0 complaints, it’s set up with EVERYTHING you’d need.

Our first Alaska trip was EPIC from picking up HUGO to dropping her off. Every single detail of preparation for our 10 days of boondocking for HUGO was executed, including high-performance suspension (this is well-invested and much appreciated). Not to mention host Kevin's great communication A-Z, he also accommodated our special request without hesitation before trip. The trip is all about exploring and experiencing Alaska. The nature is indescribably amazing, and at the top of what we experienced was the 'people' in AK, who made us appreciate and love more through this trip. Yes, "Amazing people experience starts with host Kevin's warm welcome & care, and every person we randomly met were beyond "nice" We made 27 meals in the HUGO, slept 10 nights, it was amazing, as a I'm an experienced overlander, the trips make feel like I'm driving and using my car and equipment. Truly great!!!

Perfect for our needs, we took it to Thompson Pass for a ski trip. with the cold temps the water system was winterized so we had to bring our own water jugs. The battery monitor wasn't working correctly so it was hard to know how much life was in the battery, but the solar panels kept everything working even on the cloudy days. The diesel heater kept us warm and the trailer made for a great base camp for the week. Easy pickup and drop off. I would definitely rent again.

The van was such a fun experience! Kevin was very helpful during our trip since the throttle went out, luckily we got back on the road during our trip, but he had a plan just in case it wasn’t an easy fix. The van fit 4 of us. There was no heating so if you use it in the winter bundle up. Easy pick up and drop off(:

The truck was great. It made camping in Alaska an incredible adventure. I am so pleased with the rooftop tent; it was dry and comfortable. An adventure of a life time. Now I just need my very own Green Machine.
