About Dana's RV rentals
There’s a quote by Italian psychiatrist Robert Assagioli that I kept pinned on the wall above my desk for years…“There is no certainty; there is only adventure.” I believed it, and I lived it, along with another quote which has been said a lot of ways by a lot of different people…“Do what scares you.” There is no greater exhilaration for me than pushing past my fear to do something for the first time that I couldn’t ever before imagine myself doing. I’ve done it in my personal life; I’ve done it in my professional life; and, God knows, I’ve done it with horses! And now, in my 70s, I’m doing it as a full-time RVer. It’s been a big learning curve for me and I’ve had to do many things that scared me. But here I am. I’m doing it! Back home in South Dakota tonight it’s minus 11 degrees and I’m sitting here enjoying the desert sunset on BLM land in Arizona. And last summer, I was enjoying the sunsets on the Clark Fork River in Montana from the inflatable kayak I’d wanted for years and finally bought. When I get back to the Black Hills in June, I’ll be taking a break from RVing for a couple of months and I hope those who rent my Funfinder will experience the sense of well-being that I have felt living with nature, and the exhilaration that comes from getting out there and doing it!

1. Communication: Dana is a wonderful communicator. She always responded as quickly as possible to phone calls and texts. She spent lots of time going over the functions of the trailer system before we left and went out of her way to respond to questions.
That said, I think the communication experience would be better if there were a set of written instructions. It would be very helpful to have the things that she knows about the water, electrical and hitch systems in a short cheat sheet. To her credit, she made all the manuals available but I just couldn't bring myself to read manuals during my vacation.
2. Cleanliness: In terms of a 10 year old trailer, this one is exceptionally clean. She has taken excellent care of it. It is well stocked with everything you need.
That said, there are lots of personal or semi-useful items in the trailer that it would be great not to have to haul around. I found it difficult to remember where everything was because there was so much. In our other camper rental experiences, we got along fine with much less. However, I know the motivation behind it was just to be helpful, so I appreciate that.
3. Mechanical: Mechanical systems worked very well. The stabilizers and sway bar make the trailer follow like a dream. Dana advised me to add a trailer brake controller and a transmission cooler to my Highlander, which I was very grateful to have. (between the two, they cost me about $500, cheap insurance). The solar collector and water systems work great.
That said, the water level indicators are confusing because they have some quirky readouts. The solar indicator was flashing orange which would have seemed to indicate a problem but didn't. We didn't have a problem getting by with just the one outlet strip that runs off the solar/battery. The stabilizer bars and sway bar take some additional time and effort if you want to unhook/re-hook the tow vehicle often. Also, it would be good to have some sort of prop for holding the power cord above the hitch because it tends to ride close to the pavement. It would also be good to have a better system for holding the safety chains off the pavement. Also, the tongue seemed a little heavy for some reason.
4. Value: Prices being what they are these days, good value.
5. Listing Accuracy: Listing was accurate.
6. Overall Rating: I gave it an overall 5 star rating because Dana is a great person to work with and we had such a good time.
