Alternative uses for your RV during the coronavirus outbreak

Leisure trips and fun family vacations to far-off destinations might be off the table for many families right now, but that doesn’t mean your RV has to sit at home gathering dust.

In fact, if COVID-19 has taught us anything, it’s that we have to be creative, resilient, and flexible to ensure that life is as comfortable as it can be through a particularly challenging time. That can mean using your RV in other ways that can benefit your current lifestyle and the lifestyle of those around you.

If you can’t use your RV for fun, why not use your RV for other purposes?

Guest accommodation

Now, more than ever, families need to be banding together. One way to do that is by supporting those who may be living on their own or without the help they need to get through each day. While your RV is off its vacation or rental duties, it can be used as guest accommodation.

The same rule applies to people you know who may be lacking somewhere comfortable to sleep while travel restrictions are in place. Set up your RV as a makeshift hotel for anyone displaced or in need of a bed, or if a self-quarantine is in order. Consider making your RV available to healthcare workers and others displaced by COVID-19. Always remember to maintain social distancing for those outside your immediate family or group, and follow the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) guidelines for protection

Working from home

The digital age has meant that more and more people have been working from home than ever before. However, as COVID-19 takes hold around the world, even more businesses are finding themselves in need of a digital solution.

That being said, not everyone’s homes are set up to allow a peaceful, serene, work setting. Take, for example, teachers who must lead their students’ learning digitally. An RV can become the perfect environment to teach a digital class, for it doesn’t have the same distractions as a family home, such as noise, pets, and people.

RV owners can set up a computer in their house on wheels, connect to the internet, and enjoy a distraction-free learning session that promotes full attention.

A personal retreat

As millions of people self-isolate, quarantine, and head into government-ordered lockdowns throughout the world, emotions can be high. All of a sudden, families who spend a small portion of their day together must spend the entire day together. An RV that you usually use to reconnect with your loved ones can now become somewhere you gain much-needed space.

Learn what your triggers are, and notice when it’s time to take a break for yourself and your loved ones. An RV can be an oasis in your own backyard, helping you, or your friends, through an unprecedented global event.
