The host was friendly and responsive, and took time to show us many extras she provided (coffee maker, DVD player, extra bedding, etc.). I also let her know up front that this was my first time renting a pop-up camper, and I was relying on her for any setup guidance.Unfortunately, the most critical part of the setup — how to support the slide-out beds — was never mentioned or demonstrated. There was no walkthrough or instruction provided. As a result, the bed collapsed during normal use, and my wife and I were thrown to the ground. The host initially acknowledged this, saying, “I should’ve set it up for you,” which I appreciated. However, she later filed a damage claim that appeared to place the blame on me, despite Outdoorsy’s policy requiring the owner to ensure safe and proper handoff. The claim was ultimately denied, and our request for a partial refund went unanswered.I also took the time to pack up early and help re-stage the camper for her pickup, even performing a test closing to ensure things were in order. Additionally, the camper door was difficult to operate and wasn’t explained at check-in.If you’re experienced with pop-up campers, this rental may suit your needs. But for first-time renters, I highly recommend requesting a full walkthrough and setup guidance to avoid potential safety issues.
