Travis and his van were a vacation saver for me after another Outdoorsy host canceled my vehicle with only a couple days notice. I will say Outdoorsy Customer Service was great and handled the issue incredibly quickly.Travis was already on a trip of his own when I initially reached out, but responded within hours of my first message to him. He was clear about the vehicle availability and even provided another contact for me to communicate with since he was on the road. Luckily the rental worked out and I had the van for 6 days.Booking was easy and Travis made sure I understood all charges. At pickup he did a very thorough walk-through. He did forget to tell me where the fuel fill cap was and that took some YouTubing when I had very weak cell service but I figured it out :). (it's hidden behind a door at the drivers side door.) The van was clean, water & fuel tanks filled and waste tanks empty. Travis was super accommodating and helped out with bicycles and even parking for my own vehicle. The van itself is fantastic. Nearly new and very capable. I was on a longer trip that took me on a lot of highway as well as national forest roads. I slept in the van each night.Driving: The diesel engine provides great power and getting up to speed on Montana on-ramps was never an issue. The seating position is nearly as high as a Semi Truck which is great for visibility and feeling safe. The drivers seat itself is okay, but definitely had my back tight after full days of driving, but it was tolerable. On the forest roads there were a few spots where the sun hadn't completely melted snow, or left a lot of mud and even the heavy van with it's All Terrain tires handled the questionable traction situations with ease.Living: The nice thing about this van is that it is not a converted cargo van, which means it has better insulation and windows. It is very bright inside and has a lot of options for airflow. Two fans, as well as screens in case you'd like to keep the doors open while camping. I'm 6'4" and was camping with another person, and will admit it was a little tight. By night #2 I figured out how best to sleep and it was fairly smooth sailing. I will say keeping the interior tidy and clean was key to not going crazy. With the small space if you let clutter build it can become stressful. This is a premium van, so the rental rate and additional miles do add up. When compared with a rental car and hotels, or packing tent camping equipment plus the time needed for camp and meal setup I think it was a huge value and would pay the premium again for such a fun comfortable time. I'd definitely rent this vehicle from Travis again in the future...if I don't end up buying one for myself.
